The dark version of the Avengers makes its appearance in the new Thunderbolts trailer

At the recent D23 Brazil event, Marvel Studios unveiled the next trailer for the highly anticipated *Thunderbolts*, a project that will close out Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). While the Avengers team remains in a state of "hibernation," *Thunderbolts* promises to bring a fresh new direction, introducing a group of antiheroes to pave the way toward the *Secret Wars* event in 2027.

Fakta-fakta Trailer Thunderbolts

The latest *Thunderbolts* trailer doesn't reveal much more information about the plot compared to the previous one, but we do get some key insights into several characters, most of whom were villains in the MCU before. First off, Marvel Studios officially confirmed that Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is the one who purchased the Avengers Tower and is also the one who formed a new team (tentatively called *Thunderbolts*), which includes members like Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Alexei Shostakov, Ava Starr, John Walker, and Antonia Dreykov.

The story of *Thunderbolts* is likely to center around a mysterious character named Bob, who is expected to become Sentry, Marvel's version of "Superman." Additionally, the film promises to maintain the MCU's signature blend of action and humor — the "formula" that has made many of Marvel Studios' previous blockbusters so successful. The dynamic between the Thunderbolts members and the clash of their egos when brought together as a team will also be a key aspect that adds to the film's appeal.

A final intriguing detail from the trailer is that *Thunderbolts* may not be the official name of this new team. This is why Marvel Studios included an asterisk (*) in the movie title. It’s likely that by the end of the film, the antihero team will have a new name. There are several theories suggesting that *Thunderbolts* may serve as a precursor to the formation of the Dark Avengers. As mentioned in the trailer, their headquarters will be the old Avengers Tower, which Valentina has since purchased and is now operating.

*Thunderbolts* will bring back Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov), Wyatt Russell (John Walker), Olga Kurylenko (Antonia Dreykov), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina). The mysterious character Bob will be played by Lewis Pullman.

*Thunderbolts* is expected to hit theaters in May 2025.
