The Boston Bruins front office has come under fire as of late, but now we know the fates of both Don Sweeney and Cam Neely moving forward.
After some historic regular seasons in recent years, the Boston Bruins took a shocking step back this season, and after trading some key pieces of the team, their future as a squad is certainly looking murky.
As a result of some less than ideal returns on those trades and poor off-seasons in recent years, many believed that the future of one or both Don Sweeney (GM) and Cam Neely (President of Hockey Operations) was up in the air coming into the summer of 2025.
Now, we've been given some clarity by top NHL Insider Frank Seravalli, who has revealed that both men are safe moving forward according to the organization, as they've been working together in building the next era of Boston Bruins hockey.
With superstars David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy and Jeremy Swayman leading the way, there's definitely potential there, but unfortunately for Boston, there's very little depth around them and a lack of future stars coming through the organization at this point in time.
That makes it very unclear on how both will proceed to build the next iteration of Boston Bruins hockey, and with a big decision to make on interim Head Coach Joe Sacco, they've got some very tough calls to make.
It's unclear if this is the right move for Boston, as these men have struggled to make a genuine Stanley Cup contender for a long time now, but clearly those in the organization believe in Sweeney and Neely, and now, we simply wait and see whether or not that faith pays off.a
