Taking Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy) down might be Intelligence's primary focus in the final two episodes of Chicago P.D. Season 12, but it won't be all doom and gloom. Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) are getting married! The wedding happens in the season finale.

"Forced to cease operations while under investigation by Internal Affairs, Intelligence goes off-book to bring down Reid. Ruzek and Burgess consider delaying their nuptials amid the uncertainty," the logline for Chicago P.D. Season 12, Episode 22, "Vows," teases. However, nothing is stopping this wedding that has been twelve years in the making. NBC released some images from the episode airing on May 21, which show the happy couple tying the knot despite all the problems facing their police unit.
Squerciati was previously concerned that the wedding would not fit the show's tone. " I feel like it’s, like, flowers and frills and beach, and that’s, like, just everything Chicago P.D. is not. I think everyone’s unsure how we’re going to accomplish this thing that the fans have waited for for 12 years and still respect the tone of the show," she told TV Line. The images below prove that even the dark and gritty Chicago P.D. can find space for laughter and happiness. Kim and Adam have a small, intimate wedding in a church, and all their friends and family are present. What else can anyone ask for? The duo trades their jean-filled wardrobe for wedding attire as Adam looks dapper in a black suit while Kim wears a gorgeous bridal gown.
Happiness Looks Good on Burzek in 'Chicago P.D.' Season 12 and Beyond
To think all this started over a decade ago, when they were not even in the same unit, proves how strong Burgess and Ruzek's connection is. The wedding has been a long time coming and is a welcome break from all the murder and abuse they deal with daily. “I wish I could tell you more [about the finale], like, about how [Burgess] looks, but she looks gorgeous. It was fun to shoot that, not just as the last episode, but also, we shot that on the last day of the shooting schedule, and it was nice to all be together," series star Toya Turner told TV Line when previewing what's on the horizon. In the episode airing tonight, May 14, the showdown with Deputy Chief Reid intensifies when Intelligence narrows in on Ortero.
