The Last Supper; A Scott Laughton Goodbye?

Laughton and other Philadelphia Flyers organization members, including Erik Johnson and Travis Konecny, recreated the famous Leonardo da Vinci painting “The Last Supper.”

Knowing Laughton and his personality, it could very well be a funny post.

However, given the current circumstances, speculation is undoubtedly bound to swirl. I mean, seriously, recreating “The Last Supper” now? Of course it will get people talking.

The Flyers are likely conservative sellers at the trade deadline. Laughton and defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen are the primary trade chips on the roster. With the March 7th (3 p.m. EST.) trade deadline now less than a week away, trade talks are surely ramping up.

If this really is Scott Laughton’s goodbye post, this might go down as the most fantastic pre-trade post an athlete has ever published. It also seems very fitting for Laughton.

It is certainly a hilarious way to say goodbye to teammates and a fanbase.

While it has been reported that the Flyers’ forward would prefer to remain in Philly, it does not mean Daniel Briere is not still fielding calls. The market for middle-six forwards is certainly hot right now, and Laughton may be one of the most versatile and affordable players available.

Like head coach John Tortorella said, you can’t fall in love.

There has been no indication that talks surrounding Laughton have ramped up. That does not mean he won’t be traded. At the moment, it seems Laughton will still be with the Flyers come Saturday’s game against Winnipeg.

Again, Laughton’s post could very well mean nothing. However, if he’s traded by the March 7th trade deadline, Laughton’s post will certainly go down as one of the more legendary social media posts in recent history.
