The Valley's Jax Taylor Reveals If He Regrets Rage Texting Brittany From Rehab, Blames Her for Use of His Phone as She Recalls Catching Him Naked With Another Woman on Day He Left for Treatment

Jax Taylor was rage texting Brittany Cartwright amid his rehab stay on last Tuesday’s episode of The Valley. And after the show, he and his castmates looked back on his antics.

As Jax, 45, complained about the lack of support he had from Brittany, 36, as he sought treatment and Brittany looked back on the day he left for rehab, sharing that she caught him naked post-hookup in their marital home, Jax suggested that if it weren’t for Brittany’s own behavior, he wouldn’t have been on his phone.

“By the state of California law, they cannot take away your phone,” Jax declared on the May 6 episode of The Valley: After Show. “I am addicted to my phone. I wanted to know what’s going on.”

While Jax was trying to focus on his meetings and therapy, he often found himself on his phone after sessions, explaining that it allowed him to have more “control” and fueled his ego.

“Instead of allowing myself to get better and fix myself and concentrate on why I was supposed to be there, I allowed myself to fixate on what was going on on the outside. It drove my rage even more,” he admitted. “Should I have given them my phone? Absolutely … And the second time I did.”

As Zack Wickham, 36, and Jasmine Goode, 37, noted that they were rooting for Jax until they heard how he was behaving, Jason Caperna, 41, said that although Jax spoke to him about seeing the “error of [his] ways” during his stay in treatment, he was also blaming Brittany for being there in the first place.

“He was in the facility like, ‘I see the error of my ways. I’m gonna change. But man, Brittany’s being a real b*tch and this is all her fault,'” Jason recalled, noting that Jax’s comments made it clear that he was “not really doing well.”

According to Jason, the legality of whether the facility could take Jax’s phone should’ve been “irrelevant.”

“If you want to get better and they say, ‘To get better, you need to give us your phone,’ then you just do it willingly,” he reasoned.

As for Brittany, she looked back on Jax’s “constant” stream of messages, confirming she eventually blocked him.

“I would have, like, pages of messages from him before I ever responded — if I ever responded,” she shared. “I didn’t block him in the beginning because I thought, like, if I was still sending pics of Cruz every now and then, it would help him.”

In one particular message Jax sent from rehab, he warned Brittany that she was going to “look so terrible” for going on a date during his stay in treatment, despite his own behavior.

“I’m like, ‘Dude, I caught you naked in the bed the day you went to rehab!’” she shared. “He was still naked … and I saw on my Ring camera that [the woman] left.”

“It’s embarrassing, I feel bad for my son because this is all out there, and he doesn’t deserve that,” she continued of their four-year-old. “I feel like as a public figure, I have to speak my truth. I need to help other people get out of toxic relationships and help other women who are going through the same thing see you can be strong enough and you can leave and be okay … But it is hard.”

For Brittany, one of the hardest aspects of her relationship with Jax is viewer feedback, especially when it’s in Jax’s favor.

“They’ll be praising him kind of for going in these places whenever they don’t know that he’s rage texting me and sending all these horrible things every day while he’s in there,” she explained.

During another segment of the After Show, Jax complained about the lack of support he received from Brittany while he was in rehab.

“If I would’ve just got one text, one, just, ‘We’re thinking about you. We want you to get better. You’re missed,’ or something like that, or anything along those lines, I think I would’ve been so much better,” he admitted.

Because he had left a note for Brittany when he left for rehab, he was hoping to get a written response.

“Words of affirmation go so far for me,” he shared. “Did I deserve it [after] what I put her through? Absolutely not. But if she put that aside, I just wish I would’ve gotten something from her … If she would’ve gave me, at least two or three days in, ‘Hey, we’re thinking about you. We’ll see you in 30 days,’ I would’ve put that phone away.”

While Jax suggested that it was Brittany’s fault that he was unable to concentrate on getting better, Brittany didn’t agree with his thinking that she should have acted like “his supportive, loving wife.”

“I’m like, ‘Do you not remember why you’re in there in the first place? Do you not remember what just happened the day you went, how horribly you yelled at me?’” she wondered. “He kept saying to me, ‘Why whenever I came to the house to get more stuff had you not left me a note about how proud of me you were and how much you supported me and to hang in there?’ Is this man for real? … A, we’re separated. B, you’re crazy. C, you’ve rage-texted me-slash-love-bombed me on a daily basis after seven hours of therapy, and I’m supposed to think you’re changing in the slightest?”

Looking back on that time in her life, Brittany said that Jax simply could not believe she actually left him, and she recalled him being “upset” about being left out of her 36th birthday party.

“I was like, ‘Why would you be invited? So you can ruin my night?’ Plus, a guy I was hooking up with was going to be there, and I was like, ‘Absolutely not,'” she shared.

The Valley season two airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
