The Walking Dead: Dead City, season 2 release date: Negan & Maggie are back in the Big, Rotting Apple on AMC+

It is far, far easier to wipe the walker horde off of planet earth than kill The Walking Dead franchise, as Dead City season 2 stands to prove

Like the zombie virus at the heart of its story, The Walking Dead franchise has expanded far beyond its original starting point. Take, for example, spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City, which not only expands the saga by focusing on two of the most popular characters from the original series, but also moves the locality of the zombie tale into what might be one of the worst places for it: New York City.

And now, we know when Walking Dead fans can come back to the City that Ever Creeps (get it?)

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 release date is May 4, 2025 on AMC and AMC+ (sorry Star Wars). This season will feature the return of both of season 1's series leads; that is, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan and Lauren Cohan as Maggie. If you'll recall, the previous season ended with Maggie's son still in danger and with Negan facing calls to lead a movement against the current regime controlling New York. Also threatening both of our protagonists is Željko Ivanek's Croat and his army of survivors, who vie for power in the city in their own bloody, sadistic ways.

No word yet on whether this season of Dead City will address whether the zombie plague has made cheaper or not.

The Walking Dead: Dead City, season 2 comes to AMC and AMC+ May 4.
