This Will Be Jacob Trouba's Last Season With Rangers According to NHL Insider - Yahoo Sports

The Jacob Trouba rumors just don’t seem to stop.

It started in the summer as the Rangers were looking to shop Trouba and now it’s continuing through the regular season.

Rangers general manager Chris Drury is looking to make a big move to shake up the team with Trouba’s name being specifically mentioned in a report from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

While this is obvious to anyone following the team, Friedman recently went on NHL Network and confirmed that the 2024-25 campaign will mark Trouba’s last season in New York.

“It was made very clear that if Trouba was traded last year, he just wouldn't be happy… I don’t think that’s changed,” Friedman said. “Even if there is interest in Trouba, do you really want to acquire him when he’s not going to be happy? I think next year he understands he is going to go somewhere else. This is his last year In New York.”

The Rangers have lost six of the past seven games, which has led to this massive state of panic within the organization and trade speculation.

At this point in the season given Trouba’s $8 million cap hit, it’s unlikely that he’ll be traded or moved.

Trouba stated during training training camp that it’s no secret it will probably be this Rangers’ core’s “Last Crack”, so it seems that he knows his time in New York is dwindling.

Through 24 games, the 30-year-old defenseman has recorded six assists and six points white averaging 20:00 minutes per game.
