Three Saints players receive punishment from NFL right before rivalry game against Falcons

The New Orleans Saints got some news on Saturday afternoon, the day before a rematch with the Atlanta Falcons. They've lost seven games in a row. The Week 10 matchup will be the first for Darren Rizzi as the interim head coach for the Saints.

The NFL announced their weekly fines earlier this weekend, and three Saints players were affected.

3 Saints fined

Two Saints players had money taken out of their pockets for an unnecessary roughness. The other was for a hit on a defenseless player.

  • Demario Davis: $11,255 for unnecessary roughness penalty
  • Trevor Penning: $11,255 for unnecessary roughness penalty
  • Payton Turner: $16,883 for a hit on a defenseless player

Carolina Panthers safety Xavier Woods was fined, too. He was the player that concussed Saints wideout Chris Olave with a hard hit over the middle of the field.

On Saturday, New Orleans placed Olave on injured reserve, forcing him to  miss at least four games.
