Let’s take a look at three takeaways from the Golden Knights’ 4-3 overtime loss to the Kraken in Seattle Friday night.
On Friday night, the Golden Knights fell 4-3 to the Seattle Kraken in overtime. Let’s take a look at three takeaways from the loss.
A Resilient Bunch
With less than 90 seconds left in regulation, Vegas trailed Seattle 3-2. It appeared the Golden Knights were headed for yet another frustrating road loss.
But thanks to a late Alex Pietrangelo goal, Vegas was able to tie the game and send the contest to overtime. Although they ultimately fell in the extra period, the Golden Knights still secured an important point.
The late goal highlighted the resilience of this Golden Knights team. If Vegas continues to play this way, it is going to be a very fun season in the Sin City.
Dorofeyev Continues to Impress
If I had told you before the season started that Vegas’s leading scorer through 14 games would be Pavel Dorofeyev, would you have believed me?
The 24 year-old Russian winger continues to be a standout for the Golden Knights. On Friday night, he scored his eighth goal of the season, good for the team lead. Just 14 games in, he is already more than halfway to his scoring total from last year.
It is obviously still early, but it appears as though the Golden Knights may have a budding star on their hands.
A Successful Trip
Despite the disappointing finish, it was still a very successful road trip for the Golden Knights. After earning just one point in their first four road games, Vegas secured three of four possible points on a two-game road trip to Edmonton and Seattle.
With this being the start of a stretch in which the Golden Knights play nine of eleven games away from home, it is extremely important that Vegas continues to play better on the road if they want to keep pace in the standings.
Up Next
Up next, the Golden Knights return home to take on the Carolina Hurricanes at T-Mobile Arena Monday night. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM PST.
