Vanderpump Rules star Tom Schwartz has always had his bestie, Tom Sandoval’s, back. When Sandoval decided to cheat on his longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix with her friend, Rachel Leviss, Schwartz knew about the affair from the jump. But he kept silent about it.
Did Sandoval care about the fallout from Scandoval, and how it would negatively impact his businesses? Nope! Schwartz and Sandoval’s new bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s, took a major hit. Now Schwartz is looking back at the past few years and what he and Sandoval have gone through.
Tom Schwartz describes the past few years with Tom Sandoval as “strange”
After news of Sandoval’s cheating scandal broke, Schwartz & Sandy’s was inundated with bad reviews and was boycotted by customers. “This year almost broke me. I’m glad we persevered, [but] there was a moment there I wasn’t sure if we were going to,” Schwartz said of the new bar.
Sandoval was forced into the role of a silent partner and had to step far away from Schwartz & Sandy’s. “We did ask Sandoval to step away from Schwartz & Sandy’s. And my partners told Tom if he comes in then they are going to close the doors and he’s not welcome there,” Schwartz stated.
Greg Morris, who is the duo’s business partner, also banned Pump Rules from filming at the establishment for Season 11. With all the backlash, can you blame him for trying to protect the fledgling bar?
But now, it seems that everything is on an upswing. According to The Daily Dish, Schwartz shared a photo of himself and Sandoval in his Instagram Story. They were standing in front of the Schwartz & Sandy’s sign. “Been a strange few years,” he captioned the photo. That phase should be capitalized, underlined, and in bold.
Sandoval and his girlfriend, Victoria Lee Robinson, hit up Jax Taylor’s bar, Jax’s Studio City, first. Then they hung out at Schwartz & Sandy’s. All of this is ahead of the bar’s second anniversary.
Now that the bar is out of the danger zone, Schwartz is thinking of his next business venture. “I low-key think that I want to open at least one more bar. But just like a dive bar, bare bones,” Schwartz said. Additionally, he envisions a “good old-fashioned, quirky little dive bar.” Still, Schwartz is “proud” of Schwartz & Sandy’s, and how it has managed to survive. “It’s just tough,” he stated. “It’s a brutal business…but I keep coming back for more.”
One word of advice, Schwartz. Maybe partner with Lisa Vanderpump and not Sandoval next time.
