Toronto Maple Leafs now have an absurd amount of goalies after latest signing

This season, the Toronto Maple Leafs want to make sure that their goaltending is on point, and in an effort to make that happen, they are bringing in a whole lot of options.

Today, the team announced that it signed Jon Gillies, a veteran goaltender who has spent much of his career in the AHL. While he has played 35 games in the NHL, his statistics don't exactly jump off the page. Between the Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues, New Jersey Devils, and Columbus Blue Jackets, he has a goals-against average of 3.38 and a save percentage below 0.9.

However, Gillies is simply being brought in on a PTO basis and he is expected to be an option during some preseason games. As reporter Kyle Cushman notes, there are a plethora of goalies coming into training camp.

Artur Akhtyamov
Slava Peksa'

Now, it remains to be seen whether or not Gillie manages to stand out from the pack.
