Vernon Kay believes the reason his wife Tess Daly, host of Strictly Come Dancing, agreed to marry him is because she finds him "a bit weird".
Chatting with his fellow presenter Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2 on Friday, Vernon, 50, revealed he had a love for dressing up, and recently purchased a rhinestone cowboy outfit.
When quizzed by Scott about where he plans to wear it, Vernon admitted: "Well... I don't know, I honestly don't know," and shared further: "I ain't gonna lie Scott Mills, I like dressing up.
"I have a trunk full of kind of Star Wars costumes, Halloween costumes, I love dressing up and I don't mind.
"It's been known that I will just wander off to the local supermarket, dressed as a character from a certain movie."
Scott humorously responded: "I bet Tess loves it," which prompted Vernon to say with humour: "Oh, she thinks I'm a bit weird, I think that's why she married me to be honest."
"Of course, that was the case 20 odds years ago," Scott added, referencing the early days of Tess and Vernon's relationship.
Visualising the scenario as he reflected on their first kiss, Vernon joked: "Snogging on the balcony at Fabric [nightclub], 'Oh you're weird'."
The couple first crossed paths at a BBC Christmas party back in 2001 and exchanged vows two years.
They became parents to their eldest daughter Phoebe, now 20, in 2004, and later to Amber, now 15.
Celebrating two decades of marriage in 2023, Tess confessed she still gets butterflies around Vernon.
During a Q&A with fans, she shared: "I see when his name comes up on his phone, I'm like 'yay'.
"We have a good laugh, he's always messing about, dancing and singing in the kitchen. Never a dull moment."
While speaking on Annie Mac's Changes podcast, Vernon also shared insights into their "roller coaster" marriage.
The presenter listed communication and keeping things private and precious as the key factors to a good relationship.
He continued: "I've learned from the whole of that is it's really difficult to talk, but it's really easy to talk. You've got to bite your lip and just go, I'm gonna say this.
"Put the kettle on, say it. 'I don't think we should be doing this. Maybe what if we do that? I'm feeling this,' dah dah dah, dah, you know what I mean? Like communication is the most important thing in anything and in particular in a relationship."
