The Maple Leafs and Blue Jays have often supported each other by attending games or throwing out the first pitch.
Toronto Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr. acquired some Toronto Maple Leafs gear at Fenway Park in Boston on Monday.
The third baseman was pictured holding a Maple Leafs hat outside Toronto's dugout shortly before the Blue Jays defeated the Boston Red Sox 7-3 to improve to 65-68 on the season.
Guerrero Jr. traded a signed baseball for the hat and added that he'd like something similar to what his teammate, George Springer, had earlier this season.
"I need my own hockey jersey, like my friend George Springer," Guerrero Jr. said.
The 25-year-old is referring to a themed night the Blue Jays had on August 7 where the organization gave away Springer replica hockey jerseys to the first 15,000 fans to enter Rogers Center in Toronto.
UPDATE: The Maple Leafs chimed in and delivered with a custom Vladdy jersey.
Each jersey had the Blue Jays logo on the front with Springer and his number, four, on the back. The nameplate and number are the same font style on the Blue Jays' jerseys.
Guerrero Jr. has supported the Maple Leafs several times since becoming a Blue Jay. He was pictured inside Scotiabank Arena on Jan. 19, 2023, watching Toronto take on the Winnipeg Jets with former Blue Jay Santiago Espinal, who now plays for the Cincinnati Reds.
The Blue Jays also had Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander, and Morgan Rielly out for batting practice. Matthews also threw out the first pitch for Toronto on Sep. 27, 2022, before the Blue Jays took on the New York Yankees.
"I'm sure he'll do great with the throw," Mitch Marner said the morning before Matthews threw the opening pitch. "It'll be fun if he does chunk it or throw like s***."
