Walking Dead alum has recurring role in Revival a supernatural horror series for Syfy

Revival is based on the same-titled comic from Image Comics.

Revival is an upcoming supernatural horror noir series that will premiere on Syfy beginning June 12. Walking Dead alum Steven Ogg, who portrayed the Savior Simon, stars in a recurring role.

Created by series showrunners and executive producers, Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce using the Revival comic by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton as source material. The show is produced by Blue Ice Pictures and Hemmings Films and with executive producers Lance Samuels, Daniel Iron, Samantha Levine, Daniel March, Melanie Scrofano, Greg Hemmings, and Stephen Foster.

Official synopsis for Revival: “On one miraculous day in rural Wisconsin, the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves. But this is no zombie story as the ‘revived’ appear and act just like they once were. When local officer and single mother Dana Cypress (Scrofano) is unexpectedly thrown into the center of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she’s left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.”

Ogg will portray Blaine Abel, a man raised by a fire-and-brimstone pastor who believes Revival Day is his divine calling. He raises a militia of true believers by using fear and chaos to convince them to come against the Revivers. Ogg was announced in September 2024 and joined previously announced cast members Melanie Scrofano, Romy Weltman, David James Elliott, and Andy McQueen.

Ogg shared the news on social media stating, "Grateful/excited for this REVIVAL and the opportunity to play with this lovely cast and crew! Any day I get to play/collaborate and create a new/unique character such as this…it is a very good day/s indeed! STAY TUNED."

Other actors with recurring roles, include Gia Sandhu, Katharine King So, Maia Jae Bastidas, Nathan Dales, Mark Little, Glen Gould, Lara Jean Chorostecki, and Conrad Coates.

The actor is well known for his voice work as Trevor Philips in the 2013 video game Grand Theft Auto V. Ogg's other roles include Boiling Point, Sprung, Snowpiercer, Blind River, The Ghost Trap, and more.
