As Mariah struggles with her haunting past, will Tessa be able to reach her before it’s too late?
Mariah flashed back to something killer.
In the July 8 episode of The Young and the Restless, the tension continued to rise as Mariah faced painful flashbacks that threatened her relationship with Tessa. Plus, Victoria and Claire grappled with the loss of Cole, and Danny made a life-changing decision about his future with Christine.
Meanwhile, Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) became increasingly frustrated with Mariah’s (Camryn Grimes) emotional withdrawal. As Mariah’s past began to resurface, Tessa struggled to understand what was happening to their relationship.
When Daniel (Michael Graziadei) and Tessa played the song they had written together, Mariah flashed back to a dark moment of her past — a suffocating incident involving an old man. This haunting flashback seemed to confirm that Mariah was hiding something much darker, further complicating her relationship with Tessa.
Tessa, torn between love and frustration, felt like she was losing the woman she loved. Mariah remained distant, and Tessa suggested their separation might need to become permanent if Mariah couldn’t open up to her.
At the tack house, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Claire (Hayley Erin) struggled with the overwhelming grief of losing Cole (J. Eddie Peck). Claire shared her heartbreak over the missed moments with her father, and the two women planned his memorial. Claire dreamed of Cole, remembering their cherished moments together, including the sound of a merry-go-round in her dream.
As they prepared for his memorial, Claire worried about how to grieve and whether she could do it right. Victoria reassured her that grief doesn’t follow a schedule and encouraged her to honor the love they shared. Victoria also remembered Cole’s quiet and heartfelt funeral service, and the comfort it gave her.
Nate (Sean Dominic) stopped by and gave Claire and Victoria his condolences. Claire worried she didn’t get to say goodbye, and she admitted she didn’t believe in heaven. Victoria appreciated Nate stopping by, especially since her parents and brother were out of town.
At Society, Danny (Michael Damian) and Christine (Lauralee Bell) had breakfast and discussed Daniel’s struggles with grief and his coping mechanisms. Danny reflected on his son’s journey, noting how music seemed to be a therapeutic outlet for Daniel.
Daniel joined Danny, and Danny told his son about proposing to Christine, the love of his life. Danny hoped for a future filled with happiness and stability, speaking fondly of how their relationship had come together after many twists and turns.
As Danny confided in his son, he expressed his deep admiration for Christine and how she had been there for him through thick and thin. He promised Daniel that, just as he would always be there for him, he would support his son’s future—a future he hoped would also involve love and happiness once again.
