What Teen Mom’s Ryan Edwards Asked Son Bentley Before Proposing to Amanda Conner

Before Teen Mom’s Ryan Edwards proposed to fiancée Amanda Conner, viewers saw the sweet conversation he had with his and ex Maci Bookout’s son Bentley and Amanda’s son Brandon.

Ryan Edwards is growing his family—with his son’s blessing.

Three months after the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter star announced his engagement to Amanda Conner, fans had a chance to see him getting approval from his and ex Maci Bookout’s son Bentley, along with Amanda’s son Brandon, 12, ahead of the proposal.

“The reason I wanted you guys here to talk to you guys was to ask you if everybody was OK if I ask your mom to marry her," Ryan said to Brandon in the April 24 episode of the Teen Mom spinoff. “And, Bentley, is it OK if I do it?”

After both boys approved of his move, the 37-year-old—who is also dad to 2-month-old daughter Presley with Amanda, as well as kids Jagger, 10, and Stella, 5, with ex Mackenzie Standifer—shared more details about his plans.

“I’m going to ask her tonight,” he explained. “So, I’m going to get down on one knee.”

Amanda has the ring,” he continued. “I bought the ring a long time ago and brought it home to show her. And then she took it.”

Since Amanda was already wearing the ring, the mechanic improvised and picked up a band clamp, which holds the hose on a vehicle, at an auto parts store. While the jewelry choice was unique, to say the least, Bentley was impressed by the decision.

As the 16-year-old observed, “That makes sense because you both like cars.”

In January, Ryan got down on one knee by a fire pit in their snow-covered backyard alongside Bentley and Brandon.

The reality star’s proposal came three months after he and Amanda announced they were expecting their first baby together. The couple noted that Presley’s February arrival marked a new chapter in their family’s life following Ryan’s April 2023 drug overdose and Amanda’s ongoing sobriety journey.

“We have worked so hard to reach our goals and build a new life with all of our children,” the couple shared in a statement with People following her birth. “We are looking forward to being a healthy happy family and are just deeply thankful for everyone’s love and support.”

In fact, Amanda shared with the outlet in October that she and Ryan were “in a very happy, safe place.”

"For me, I can enjoy this pregnancy and I have a second chance at motherhood,” she continued. “For Ryan, he is in a place that he hasn't been in for a long time. We are excited to move forward from our past mistakes. We have a great support system with family and friends, and they are very happy for this new chapter of our lives."
