Actor Michael Biehn is well known for numerous roles throughout his career, many of which have been action roles. These include Aliens, The Abyss, The Terminator, and The Rock. Now, after starring in low-budge thrillers for the past couple of decades, he has been cast in a new action movie, Onslaught. Who did Biehn play in The Walking Dead?
The Walking Dead's eleventh and final season consisted of 24 episodes, released in three parts. During this mega season, many new characters were introduced, including Biehn's Ian, the leader of a new community called Riverbend. This is the group that Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is found with after removing himself from the other communities.
Ian is only seen briefly, but it is obvious he is ruthless and a bit unhinged, as indicated by the display of skulls of other raiders who have threatened Riverbend. Aaron (Ross Marquand) tells them they have MREs to share and wants them to join the Commonwealth. Ian believes they are there to eat the residents as they've had bad experiences with outsiders.
Everyone is betrayed by Toby Carlson (Jason Harner Butler), who, under orders from Deputy Governor Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton), kills the majority of the Riverbend residents, including Ian.
Biehn had brief screen time but Ian's community would live on through Negan, his wife Annie (Medina Senghore) and the other survivors who moved to Maggie's (Lauren Cohan) Hilltop community. But this is short lived as by the time the story picks up with Maggie and Negan in The Walking Dead: Dead City, Hilltop is no more. Maggie, her son Hershel (Logan Kim), and other Hilltop residents moved to the Bricks, located near New York/New Jersey. Negan, wanted by the law, sends his wife and son away to Missouri.
The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report that Biehn, Reginald VelJohnson (Family Matter, Die Hard), and comedian Eric Wareheim (Tim & Eric) have been cast in the new action movie Onslaught. They join previously announced Adria Arjona, Dan Stevens, and Drew Starkey. UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex “Poatan” Pereira also stars.
The movie is directed by Adam Wingard for A24 and filming begins this month.
"A mother living in a trailer park uses her skills to protect her loved ones from a threat that escaped a secret military base, while mercenaries try to contain it."
Pereira plays The Butcher, the main villain in the story with Stevens as a German scientist who's experiments escape threatening all. Arjona plays the mother with VelJohnson and Warheim as residents of the trailer park. Biehn will play a leader of an elite group of mercenaries trying to reign in the threat.
