Why Chelsea’s Moves on June 11 Y&R Could Change Everything for Billy — and Herself

Chelsea confused much of Genoa City on the June 11 episode of The Young and the Restless. Nikki wondered why she is so eager to protect Billy. Adam wondered why she is so eager to protect Billy. And, soon, Victor will wonder why she is so eager to protect Billy. But we think we know.

Back To the Future

Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam (Mark Grossman) are back together. Again. Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) compared them to herself and Victor (Eric Braeden).

Hey, hey, hey there. Chelsea and Adam are very toxic. But they’re not THAT toxic. Yet. Give them time. The comparison was apt enough to make Chelsea realize that she and Adam still have a bit of breaking up to do.

Mother’s Milk

Chelsea was raised by her mother, Anita (Catherine Bach), to use and abuse men (that’s how Johnny [Paxton Mishkind] came into the world). And she was raised to always, always, ALWAYS have a backup plan. Chelsea’s obvious backup plan is Billy (Jason Thompson).

The next time Chelsea and Adam inevitably break up, Chelsea is going to need to be able to run to Billy for room, board, and reminders that she is the most amazing woman, mother, designer whoever lived. And that would be harder to do if she just helped Adam and Victor to publicly destroy Billy’s credibility.

Anything But Love

While outsiders might assume that Chelsea is going to bat for Billy because she is still in love with him — though she did float that bogus Johnny (Paxton Mishkind)/Connor (Judah Mackey) excuse; yeah, nobody bought that — we realize it’s not love that’s motivating Chelsea, it’s practically.

She knows she and Adam aren’t endgame, and she needs to line up her next sucker… er, love interested, before she’s forced to (gulp) honestly support herself.
