The Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans knew Shamea Morton as a friend of Porsha Williams since season 6 but she has now returned as a full-time housewife for season 16, which premiered on March 9.

In a March 10 interview with Atlanta News First, shared by Peachtree TV, Morton revealed why she’s so excited for her new role. “As you know, I’ve hung out with these ladies for almost a decade on and off, and it’s so different when you have your own peach because now, it’s like, you get to tell your own story versus you supporting someone else,” she said.

Morton compared being a “friend” to an extra on a television show and told the host that viewers didn’t have the chance to get to know her.

“I have enjoyed this season so much. In the past, people would get their little jab in and I would never have a rebuttal because I would not be mic’d up,” Morton said. She added that she’s already getting a lot of love from “RHOA” fans and appreciated their support.

Morton’s ‘RHOA’ Debut Showed Her Opulent Lifestyle

“RHOA” fans were finally able to see more of Morton’s life in the season 16 premiere, during which she revealed her very lavish lifestyle.

Scenes from inside her palatial house showed sprawling rooms, a winding grand staircase, and an elevator that led to the upper level.

“My $9 million dollar house was the second largest sale in Georgia that year. But you know what, I don’t even get down like that,” Morton told the camera. She added, “I hate being defined by my wealth.”

Morton shared that she earns a living in entertainment as an actor, singer, dancer, and host. After joking that her husband, Gerald Mwangi, was a “prince,” she revealed that he makes his money installing HVAC systems.

“Some of the airports you’ve walked through, my husband has built, manufactured, and installed the HVACs. There you have it!” she said.

Later in the episode, Morton threw herself a birthday party with the “RHOA” cast in attendance and Mwangi surprised her with a $430,000 Rolls-Royce Cullinen. Fellow housewife Drew Sidora exclaimed, “Who doesn’t want a Cullinen Rolls-Royce!”
