The Young and the Restless turned into a big whodunit. Damian was found dead, and more could end up in danger. Cane claims that he’s the one they’re after. Yet, no one can believe him. His guests think he’s playing a cruel game. So, who could be lurking in the shadows?

Daughter Dilemma

Numerous theories have been put forward about who this mysterious murderer could be. Most Y&R fans think it’s someone related to Cane (Billy Flynn). One fan, Anita Cary, thinks it’s his daughter who’s striking from the shadows. It’s possible that it could be one of his kids, especially his son Sam. However, Anita is pointing her finger towards Mattie (Lexie Stevenson), who was a troubled teen.

Mattie is Lily and Cane’s daughter. She attended Stanford University and was never heard of again. Her parents remarked that she studied at the medical lab, but it was unclear whether she was studying to become a doctor. Mattie and her twin brother, Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry), last visited Genoa City in 2021.

From Daddy’s Little Girl to Daddy’s Killer?

Mattie was a “Daddy’s Girl.” She grew up to love the family she was born into. However, it’s possible that Lily and Cane’s divorce took a toll on her. It was probably the root of her problems, especially when she grew up and tried to find herself. Mattie likely envisioned her parents getting back together.

Cane probably gave her that hope. He would often talk about how Lily was the love of his life. Mattie could’ve been there in the shadows, witnessing her parents’ difficult interactions. She might also have seen Lily and Damian’s romantic connection. What could’ve tipped it off was seeing them kiss.

What Hides in the Dark, Comes to Light

There’s one piece of evidence that could reveal who the killer is. Cane has been watching everyone at the estate, but he claims the tape went missing. He’s covering up and protecting his daughter. That’s why it’s taken the French authorities so long to arrive. He will continue the narrative that he’s the intended target.

If Damian wasn’t there, Cane could’ve pursued Lily. He planned on popping the question, which would’ve delighted his daughter. But his plans fell apart. As Anita said, “Troubled minds aren’t always rational.” Mattie could’ve acted out to send a message to Lily.
