Giancarlo Stanton is back, and that means the end of the Pablo Reyes era in The Bronx.
The utility man was designated for assignment on Monday, the corresponding move with Stanton activated from the injured list.
Reyes, 31, saw action in 31 games for the Bombers this season, putting together a slash line of .194/.242/.226 after making the team as a non-roster invitee this spring.

“One of those that was difficult,” manager Aaron Boone said. “One of the things I told him was I think he’s a really good player and one thing he certainly was was a pro and a really good teammate. Worked his butt off, ready for anything, probably even deserved more playing time.”
The move comes days after Reyes delivered the iconic image of their sweep-clinching win over the Royals on Thursday, scoring the game’s lone run in a chaotic eighth-inning sequence.
Reyes, on second, raced around from second on Paul Goldschmidt’s line drive to first base, which trickled off Kansas City first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino.

Reyes stumbled rounding third, turned back and then took off for home, beating Lucas Erceg’s throw and laying in the dirt gasping for breath.
“There’s a little bit of panic, because it’s late in the game … and you definitely want to score there,” Reyes said after the win through an interpreter. “There’s two outs, so in my mind, I’m trying to do whatever I can to score. I lost my balance, and at the same time, I heard [third-base coach] Luis Rojas telling me, ‘Keep going, keep going, keep going!’ I noticed there was a hesitation there [by] the pitcher, and I just kept going and did the best I could.”
Still, the Dominican journeyman who has made stops in Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Boston and with the Mets, seemed to know he might have to find another team to continue his baseball odyssey.
