Angela Oakley's Husband Charles Oakley Clarifies If He's Banned From MSG

Charles Oakley is setting the record straight on his alleged ban from Madison Square Garden.

The retired NBA player, who is married to The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Angela Oakley, was arrested at the New York City venue in 2017 (though he was later cleared of misdemeanor charges).

When asked on the March 23 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen if he's still banned from MSG, Charles said, "I'm not banned-banned, but I haven't been there."

Host Andy Cohen responded, "Maybe you'll come with me to a Knicks game sometime and see what happens."

"Maybe so. Yeah, let's do it," Charles responded. "Maybe they'll ban both of us then."

"I know," Andy added. "What an honor that would be, though.".

Why was Charles Oakley banned from MSG?

In February 2017, Charles, who played for the New York Knicks from 1988 until 1998, attended a Knicks game at MSG, but was later arrested following an altercation with security.

"Me and four friends went to the game tonight to watch the Knicks and Clippers,” he said in an interview with ESPN at the time. "We get there, sit down, trying to have a good time. Next thing I know I was asked to leave the building. I asked why, and he said, ‘Well, you have to leave because someone ordered you to leave.’ And I’m like, ‘I’ve been here four-and-a-half minutes, I’m a Knicks fan, I played here for 10 years, I love the Knicks.'"

Why Angela Oakley and Charles Oakley separated after his MSG ban

Angela spoke about the fallout from the 2017 incident on Season 16, Episode 3 of RHOA.

"2017 with Madison Square Garden, that was a very, very rough time. Charles was attending a game in New York. The owner does not like Charles and called security to come escort him out. We were newly married and he needed to heal and I couldn't heal him," she admitted in an interview on the episode. "During this time, I was just like, 'You know what? We're going to try to work through this at a distance.' And we did live separately. So us just recommitting to one another I feel like is important at this moment."

As a result, Angela is looking to do a vow renewal with her husband of nearly nine years — but he's more focused on the money they've been spending on their real estate investment properties.
