It's been a week since the Cincinnati Bengals officially introduced Al Golden as defensive coordinator and hired Jerry Montgomery and Mike Hodges as the defensive line coach and linebackers coach, respectively, to help fill out Golden's staff on defense.
To start this past weekend, the Bengals also reportedly finalized a deal to bring on Mike Moon, a former assistant of Golden's from Notre Dame, to be a defensive assistant on his new staff in Cincinnati.
Will there be any more hires after Moon? Based on last year's staff, there may be room for one more.
Including head coach Zac Taylor, the 2024 Bengals had 25 members of their coaching staff. They let go of seven coaches last month following the conclusion of the regular season, and following the Moon report, six of those vacancies have been filled.
It's not confirmed what role Moon will have on defense, but John Brice of Football Scoop reported that Moon will concentrate his efforts on the defensive line.

The most likely role Moon will be taking is senior defensive analyst, which was held by long-time assistant Mark Duffner up until January. One of Duffner's tasks in his role was helping the defense as a pass-rush specialist. Moon's history working with the d-line and Brice's report suggests this could be why Moon was brought in to fill the vacancy.
The position that would remain unfilled in that case is defensive quality control, which was previously held by Louie Cioffi. Should the Bengals make another addition to their coaching staff, it would be to fill this position.
