Britain's Got Talent was taken off air on Saturday night, with viewers complaining that their evening had been 'ruined' by the show being pulled from the ITV schedule.
Fans of Britain's Got Talent were left disappointed when ITV pulled the much-loved talent competition from its usual television spot on Saturday night (15 March).
The hit series is a regular fixture, beaming into homes every Saturday evening on both ITV1 and ITVX. However, a schedule shake-up occurred to accommodate the broadcast of the Six Nations Championship rugby final between France and Scotland on the network's main channel.
With the match's 8pm kick-off coinciding with BGT's traditional airing time, the show could not proceed as normal.
Viewers took to social media platforms to express dissatisfaction over the alteration, with some branding it "unnecessary" to sideline Britain's Got Talent for sports coverage. Others felt their Saturday night enjoyment was marred by the decision.
One disgruntled viewer voiced their frustration online: "Joke taking #BGT and #The1PercentClub off for rugby, there's 3 other channels they could put it on and they have to take everything off for. Saturday night best night for TV and it's ruined."
Another objected: "@ITV taking the p**s bumping @BGT #BGT for the football (sic). Completely unnecessary, plenty of other channels to put this on."
Further comments reflected confusion and disappointment: "Suddenly thought I was missing #BGT, then remembered it's not on this week #SixNations," and another simply stating: "Nah just realised there's no Britains got talent tonight #BGT."
However, fans need not fret too long; Britain's Got Talent is set to return to its prime-time ITV slot come Saturday, 22 March, reports the Mirror. The latest series began in February, with Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli reprising their roles as judges, offering their opinions on a variety of acts. Ant and Dec have also made a comeback as hosts of the ITV programme.
The new series has already seen an array of talent, with six Golden Buzzers having been pressed. The show also invited YouTuber KSI to be a guest judge during the auditions in Blackpool, which led to viewers showering the programme with compliments.
This year's series is set to continue until the end of May, with episodes being broadcast every Saturday night. In contrast to previous years, when the BGT semi-finals were shown consecutively during the week, leading to an earlier conclusion of the show.
