Britain's Got Talent's Teddy Magic semi-final update confirmed after show absence

Britain's Got Talent star Teddy Magic was forced to pull out of the first semi-final last weekend

Britain's Got Talent star Teddy Magic will be absent from this weekend's semi-final line-up.

Although the ITV show is set to air another live semi-final on Saturday (May 3), Teddy won't be taking to the stage.

During the first live semi-final last weekend, hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly initially announced that the eight-year-old magician would perform first.

However, proceedings were delayed, with Ant explaining, "Now, Teddy isn't quite ready backstage yet, so we're just going to chat to you judges," while Dec added, "We're going to have a little change of plan."

"Just while he gets himself ready and composed backstage," Ant further clarified. Simon Cowell then asked if the act wasn't ready, with Dec confirming that Teddy needed more time to prepare.

 

Simon then reassured, "It's fine, it's fine. If he's not ready, he's not ready."

The show moved on to the next act, and it was expected that Teddy would perform later in the episode. However, half an hour before the end, Dec announced that Teddy would return to perform later in the series instead, reports the Mirror.

"[Teddy] wont be performing tonight but we hope to see him later on in the series," Dec stated.

Although it was anticipated that Teddy might perform in another semi-final, it won't be this weekend, as the line-up has been revealed.

Instead, this weekend, magician Alexandra Burgio, dancers Cheer re Mans, magician and dancer Jannick Holste, singer John Pierce, dancers Lil M's, guitarist Olly Pearson, singer Stacey Leadbeatter and impressionist Will Burns will all perform.

 

After Teddy missed his anticipated performance at the weekend, concerned fans quickly flocked to social media to express their best wishes for the youngster.

One viewer posted: "I hope little Teddy was ok. I think children should only be able to apply age 11+. An adult performer would be nervous and overwhelmed in a live show never mind an 8 yr old child. #BGT," while another shared their sympathy: "I feel so sorry for Teddy magic I wish he performed."

A third said: "@antanddec @BGT is Teddy magic ok? Hope he's doing ok as it's a huge night for a little lad and hope to see him in the live shows soon #BGT," with another similarly sharing: "#bgt @BGT what happened to Teddy Magic? He is okay?!! Bit awful of @bgt not to provide any news or reassurance."

Adding to the concern, a fifth individual expressed disappointment: "I'm gutted about #Teddy not performing tonight in @BGT. I really hope he's okay!"

It was reported that an unforeseen issue with the act prompted the Britain's Got Talent team to delay the performance, with Teddy now anticipated to hit the stage during one of the forthcoming live semi-finals.
