The Southern Charm alum also touched on a potential return to reality TV.
Although her single-mom duties have kept her quite busy, Chelsea Meissner hasn’t abandoned her career in cosmetology. The Southern Charm alum confirmed this during a recent Q&A on Instagram when a couple of fans asked if she was still working as a hairstylist.
“Yes.. 3 days a week,” she responded. “I still do hair however, I haven’t taken on new clients [in] many years.”
Chelsea Meissner reveals what led her to hairstyling
When she joined the Southern Charm cast in Season 4, the South Carolina native was working as a Charleston stylist with dreams of owning a salon and launching a haircare line. She spoke about her career in the 2019 winter issue of Charleston Home and Design, explaining what drew her to the beauty service industry.
“After spending some time traveling and learning things about myself, I eventually decided to work doing something I loved,” she said. “I’ve always thought that I work too hard to work for someone else, so I finally decided it was time to do something for me, something I would love waking up to everyday [sic]. Styling hair gives me the ability to be creative and help people feel great about themselves. It’s rewarding in that way. Being self-employed also gives me the freedom to travel, which is my true passion.”
Chelsea shares an update on her family life
Since exiting Southern Charm in Season 6 (2019), Chelsea has experienced many big life changes — chief among them was her entry into motherhood. She welcomed her daughter in late 2023 and is now raising the child with the help of her mom.
“I moved my mom in with me when I was 9 months pregnant and she has been a Godsend,” the single parent revealed in her recent Q&A. “The three of us do everything together. I’m so fortunate to have top tier assistance. We’re considering home schooling as well.”
Would Chelsea ever return to reality TV?
Chelsea was also asked if she would ever revive her reality TV career, which included an appearance on Survivor.
“I’ve been asked that so many times and I really don’t know the answer,” she confessed. “I had a good bit of health concerns when I got off Survivor. My colon almost ruptured, I lost all my hair, didn’t have a period for [six] months. It’s intense.”
Chelsea said she was previously “approached" to do a home renovation/interior design series, but nothing “has ever come to fruition."
“Im not in a place to dedicate time/energy into such an intense filming schedule,” she said before expressing interest in joining The Traitors. “Now that’s a show I would consider.. But they would probably eat me alive.”
