After reports came out stating that Chicago P.D. cast member Toya Turner would not be returning for the show's upcoming Season 13, the actress confirmed the news on social media, leaving fans distraught.
Turner shared a bunch of photos and videos from her time working on the hit crime drama on Instagram on June 26, beginning her message by saying, "My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close."
She went on, writing, "This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next."
Turner thanked the cast and crew for "the warmth, the laughter, and the generosity you brought every day," before saying to the fans, "Thank you for welcoming me, rooting for me, and showing Kiana love. And to everyone who believes in me: your support means the world. I’m excited for the opportunities ahead."
Fans were upset and shocked about the news, with comments on the post like, "I will never forgive them for this. You will be missed," and "What???? No, why??? You fit in and added depth and diversity to the cast. I'm heartbroken."
Another fan wrote, "WHAT?!?!?!?!? The way my mouth is still wide open!!!!! 🥺🥺 I have been a fan of CPD from the beginning and YOU were the character I had been waiting for!!!! I am seriously disheartened to hear you are saying goodbye!"
"This makes zero sense. You just started," wrote someone else, referring to the fact that Turner only joined the show as her character Kiana Cook at the start of Chicago P.D. Season 12.
Actors from the hit TV franchise also shared their thoughts on the news, with Chicago P.D.'s Marina Squerciati writing, "You are magic. Just magic. I am so sad. It is our loss. Xoxo."
Chicago Fire's Daniel Kyri, who also will not be returning to his show next season, said, "You brought so much to that show and elevated every frame. Can’t wait to see what’s next love 😍."
