The Montreal Canadiens Forward Led the NHL in Shootout Goals Last Season

On July 10, the NHL took to their Instagram page to share a collection of miscellaneous stat category leaders from the 2023-24 season. It was here that many Montreal hockey fans found out that Cole Caufield led the league in shootout goals with 5.

Caufield attempted 12 shots in the shootout last season, finishing with a shooting percentage of 41.7 percent. For his career, the young stud forward has a shootout success of 45 percent.

Caufield experienced a slow start in production during last year’s campaign. The forward ended up with 28 goals and 65 points while playing on Montreal’s top offensive line with captain Nick Suzuki and former number one overall draft pick Juraj Slfkovský.

The young attacker joined household names in the stat leader post from the NHL. Sidney Crosby led the NHL in faceoff wins with 1,090, Juuse Saros made the most saves with 1,672, and Stanley Cup champion Matthew Tkachuk drew the most penalties with 50.
