Colts legendary pass rusher Dwight Freeney received a massive honor from his alma mater Syracuse

It's been an eventful last few months for Indianpolis Colts legend Dwight Freeney.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this summer and has now had his jersey retired by his alma mater, Syracuse University.

Freeney started his college career in 1998 and played all four years of his college career at Syracuse. He recorded 34 sacks and 104 total tackles during his college career. With the majority of his production coming during his final two seasons. As a junior in 2000, Freeney recorded 13.0 sacks, and as a senior, he finished his college career with a bang by setting his career high with 17.5. His 17.5 sacks during his senior year are the most sacks by any Syracuse player in a single season, and he finished with the second-most sacks by any Syracuse player ever.

These numbers led the Colts to select him in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He went on to have a 17-year NFL career, appearing in 218 games and recording 350 total tackles, 125.5 sacks, and 128 tackles for loss. These numbers led him to be named a member of the  Pro Football Hall of Fame class o024. And now he has gotten his jersey retired at his alma mater, which he says is still the loudest stadium he's ever played in.
