Boston Bruins netminder Jeremy Swayman remains adamant about his decision to not file for arbitration this year after last year’s hassle. Last season’s experience with salary arbitration was an unpleasant experience as he even stated, “don’t wish it upon any of my friends and teammates”.
Although, “there’s no ill will on the process,” he understands where the higher-ups are coming from. But rather than going through it again, he left it up to the team. Even though he is not interested, the Bruins can still fill for arbitration until Saturday at 5 pm ET.
Last season, after filing for arbitration he came up with a $3.475 deal with the Bruins. While Jeremy Swayman’s reported asking price was $5 million, the Bruins were only willing to offer $2 million, as per reports.
The team is currently organizing itself with the addition of new players and roster changes. However, GM Don Sweeney remained unchanged in his decision to prioritize a deal with Swayman as he is one of the driving members of the team.

Throughout the trade market, Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney’s stance on Jeremy Swayman remained unchanged. He still thinks Swayman is one of the top priorities to sign the deal with, and he will remain the team’s starting goalie.
Although the Bruins were off to a good start in the off-season with a generous amount of money, they currently carry a cap space of $8,636,666. It may make things a bit tougher, but the GM has confidence everything will work out in the end.
Last season, Swayman recorded a score of 25-10-8 with a 2.53 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage. It’ll be interesting to keep an eye out for the closure of the arbitration case, as 2024-25 regular season games will start soon after the trade deadline season.
