Erika Jayne suggested Garcelle Beauvais only throws shade behind her back, and hinted at what it would take to quit the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The star also praised her friend Teddi Mellencamp for “seizing every day” amid her battle with brain cancer.
Last November, ET’s Brice Sander asked Erika if she knows something about Garcelle’s life that she’s not sharing on camera. Erika said no but hinted that “nothing is as it appears,” and suggested that Garcelle doesn’t open up in the same way she expects from her costars.
At the recent reunion, Garcelle challenged Erika over the comment, leading Erika to declare, “I wish you were more interesting.” Though Garcelle said little at the time, when she went backstage – away from Erika – she said, “F**k you, Erika!”
In a new interview for ET, Brice addressed how his previous interview with Erika led to an “explo[sion]” at the reunion. Erika said she was surprised it hit such a nerve.
“You asked me a simple question, I gave an answer, and it ended up being a real point of contention at the reunion,” said Erika.
“‘Cause it wasn’t something that was that inflammatory,” she added. Brice then asked about Garcelle having “a lot of smoke” for Erika backstage, but not “to your face.”
“That’s kind of the way it seems to go [with her],” said Erika, who was then asked about her dream cast for season 15.
“I don’t know. That’s up to production, network,” she said. “That’s where they see the vision. I’m assuming they will put a new cast member in.”
Erika hinted at what it would take for her to quit: “I’m going back until it no longer serves myself or Housewives.”
At one point in the interview, Erika addressed her friend Teddi’s battle with brain cancer.
“She is so alive and so present, and she’s just really seizing every day,” said Erika. “It’s very inspiring because, you know, she’s facing some really hard challenges … She’s out there living her life to the fullest, and it’s wonderful to watch.”
Erika hinted that fans saw a “part” of Teddi’s personality on RHOBH, but now people see her full self.
Though she supports Teddi, Erika shared that she opted out of getting matching tattoos with her and Kyle Richards – to celebrate their friendship.
