Former Flyers Star Is Red-Hot Right Now

This former Flyers star is heating up right now.

While former Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux is now 37 years old, he is still an impactful NHL forward at this stage of his career. In 54 games with the Ottawa Senators this season, the 2006 first-round pick has 11 goals, 37 points, and a plus-4 rating. 

Giroux's play is only getting better as the season rolls on, as he is on a real heater right now. After scoring in Ottawa's Feb. 4 contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning, he has extended his ongoing point streak to six games. Over that span, he has two goals and seven points. 

Giroux's hot streak is coming at a great time for the Senators. The Senators are one of the several teams fighting for a playoff spot in the tight Eastern Conference. At this juncture of the campaign, they are third in the Atlantic Division standings, but the Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Boston Bruins are all right behind them. If Giroux keeps this play up, it will help Ottawa's chances of making the playoffs this spring. 

Giroux certainly had plenty of offensive success as a Flyer, so it is not too surprising that he is thriving with Ottawa right now. In 1,000 games as a Flyer, he had 291 goals, 609 assists, and 900 points.
