Former Georgia Bulldog star signing $10 million contract with Atlanta Falcons
The San Francisco 49ers have released former Georgia Bulldogs outside linebacker Leonard Floyd. Floyd recorded 8 and 1/2 sacks and 42 tackles in his only season with the 49ers.
Floyd has 48 and 1/2 sacks over the past five seasons, which is among the most of any player in the NFL. Following his release, Floyd is expected to sign a one-year, $10 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Floyd was a highly-sought after free agent and was not available for long.
Floyd brings a combination of experience and production that is exactly what the Falcons defense needs. Floyd projects as the Falcons' top pass rusher. He's recorded at least 8 and 1/2 sacks in five straight seasons. For reference, Atlanta's pass rush posted just 31 sacks in 2024 (No. 31 in the NFL). The Falcons have not had an individual pass rusher post more than 8 and 1/2 sacks since the 2017 NFL season.
