Over the weekend, the Vegas Golden Knights provided an update regarding the status of captain Mark Stone.
On Friday, the team officially announced that Stone will be day-to-day going forward. In a corresponding move, the team also recalled Jonas Rondbjerg from AHL Henderson.
In a Sunday evening press conference, head coach Bruce Cassidy offered some more information on the situation.
“[Mark Stone] nothing new,” Cassidy said. “Didn’t practice. Don’t anticipate he’ll play tomorrow. We’ll keep calling him day-to-day until I hear differently from the training staff.”
Cassidy’s update was not the most encouraging one for Golden Knights fans. From the way he sounded, it is possible that Stone could be out for a little while, and “day-to-day” is just a blanket label.
Stone is currently second on the team with 21 points, behind only Jack Eichel. With Vegas playing seven of their next nine games on the road—where they have struggled thus far this season—Stone being out for an extended period of time would be a particularly tough blow to the team.
The Golden Knights are back in action when they host the Carolina Hurricanes at T-Mobile Arena Monday night.
