Golden Knights are getting recognized for their solid forward group

Twitter (or X, whatever you want to call it) had a little survey of the best forwards currently in the NHL. Believe it or not, Vegas has plenty of representation.

JFresh on Twitter (or X, whatever you want to call it) is well-versed in putting out certified bangers. This time, it came in the form of a survey asking who the 120 best forwards in the NHL are. Las Vegas will love the representation they see from the list, particularly with their newest star.

Report Card: Grading the Vegas Golden Knights through the first two months of 2024-25

The representatives for the Golden Knights are as follows:

  • 11.) Jack Eichel
  • 12.) Mitch Marner
  • 50.) Mark Stone
  • 79.) Tomas Hertl
  • 87.) William Karlsson
  • 116.) Ivan Barbashev

It should be no surprise that Eichel and Marner received high marks as forwards. Eichel had 94 points, while Marner scored 102 points with the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. They deserve the praise they got from fans.

But they weren't the only players with high marks. Stone also cracked the Top 50 with 48 assists last season. Make all the LTIR jokes you want about the Captain. But he was a focal point in the Golden Knights being successful.

Hertl cracked the Top 100, coming in at No. 79. The center from Prague set the franchise record for the most single-season power play goals with 14, barely edging out Pavel Dorofeyev (13). Despite only scoring nine goals in an injury-shortened season, Karlsson also cracked the Top 100.

Finally, we have Ivan Barbashev, who scored 23 goals and 28 assists last season. He had a blistering first half, scoring 15 goals and 15 assists.

But there's one surprising omition from the list for the Golden Knights

When you score 13 power play goals and lead the Golden Knights in goals, you deserve some form of recognition. For Pavel Dorofeyev, not even a breakout season was enough to earn him consideration from the fans.

It's a shame because scoring 35 goals in a single season was good enough to be tied for 18th in the NHL. Perhaps he was overlooked for players such as Jonathan Marchessault, Philip Danault, or Barbashev.

Perhaps people haven't heard of the 24-year-old yet. That comes with the territory of not being recognized by your NHL peers upon entering the league. Who knows? Dorofeyev's 2024-25 season could be a mere one-off (Golden Knights fans hope that's not the case).

If that's the case, then the Russian winger knows what to do. One stellar season with 35 goals isn't enough to impress the masses. Now, you must replicate or surpass that performance and leave the fans wanting more. It's part of being a Golden Knight, where the expectation is winning another Stanley Cup.

Remember that sign during the Mitch Marner press conference that said "Ignore The Naysayers?" Well, it's time for the winger to "Prove The Naysayers Wrong." That's also part of being a Golden Knight.
