It looks as if Bold & Beautiful‘s Liam will live to love another day. While last week, we weren’t necessarily sure that would prove to be true, the episode airing on Monday, April 7 saw him rushed into (and out of) surgery and, in the final moments, waking up. (You can read a recap of the quick-paced story here.) But with Dr. Buckingham issuing warnings about brain damage, it’s clear that our hero won’t simply bounce out of bed and resume his waffling ways.
Not coincidentally, his two favorite ex-wives — Hope and Steffy — have been playing a very big role in his life recently. Having had her heart broken by Carter, Hope is at a crossroads which has found her reflecting on her past in general, and Liam in particular. Meanwhile, it was Steffy who found Liam after he collapsed — twice — and it is she who has been by his side ever since. (Oddly, even when Liam was whisked away for surgery, Steffy didn’t reach out to any of his loved ones to let them know what was going on.)
With Liam now awake, the real question becomes what happens next and just how much brain damage he might have suffered. Upon fully regaining consciousness, will he suffer memory loss and if so to what extent? Will he recognize the tear-stained face of the woman sitting at his bedside?

If we were betting folks — and as it happens, we are — we’d put a whole lot of money on this nearly tragic turn of events bringing Hope and Liam back together. But things will be complicated for Steffy, too, given that her animosity toward Hope isn’t likely to dissipate anytime soon.

While Steffy’s marriage is on relatively firm ground, especially given the fact that both his mom and daughter have tried to kill her, she’s also been caught up in memories of her past with Liam. Might any attempt she makes to prevent Hope and Liam from reuniting be viewed by Finn as an emotional betrayal… especially should he learn about those kisses Liam stole which Steffy never filled her hubby in on?
We’re not necessarily champing at the bit for a Hope/Liam/Steffy/Finn redux, especially given we’re also rerunning the Brooke/Ridge/Taylor story for the umpteenth time. But if they can find a way to get new drama out of his old triangle, it might be worth a go!
