Could one of Chicago P.D.’s most beloved couples finally be heading for a real happy ending?

Marina Squerciati, who plays Officer Kim Burgess, is officially returning for Season 13 — and she’s opening up about what might be next for her character’s emotional rollercoaster relationship with Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger).

“I think the fans deserve to see what peace looks like for them,” Squerciati shared in a recent interview. “They’ve been through hell and back — trauma, heartbreak, life-and-death situations. If anyone’s earned a shot at real happiness, it’s Burgess and Ruzek.”

While she didn’t confirm wedding bells just yet, Marina dropped hints that the writers are finally leaning into emotional resolution. “This season, we’re peeling back the armor. You’ll see more vulnerability, more honesty — and yes, more heart.”

Fans have been rooting for “Burzek” since Season 1, and after years of ups, downs, and near misses, Season 12 saw the two co-parenting Makayla and slowly rebuilding trust. Could Season 13 seal the deal?

“There’s always going to be tension — it’s a cop drama, after all,” she laughed. “But this time, I think they might finally find a way to love each other without breaking each other.”

Hope is in the air for Burzek fans… and it sounds like the payoff might be worth the wait.
