Positive Developments Come Out Regarding Chris Kreider and Filip Chytil's Injury Status
Chris Kreider and Filip Chytil could be set to return sooner rather than later.
Both Chris Kreider and Filip Chytil are traveling with the New York Rangers on their upcoming road trip according to Arthur Staple of The Athletic.
Kreider was placed on injured reserve with an apparent upper-body injury that has kept him out of the lineup for the past three games.
Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reported the belief for weeks has been that Kreider’s back has been an ongoing issue.
These back problems are likely the reason for his absence. Kreider has been skating on his own, but is yet to practice with the team.
Meanwhile, Filip Chytil was forced to exit the Rangers’ game on Tuesday against the Dallas Stars after suffering an upper-body injury.
Chytil missed Thursday’s matchup against the New Jersey Devils, but he has not been placed on injured reserve or Long-term injured reserve.
The 25-year-old forward was seen on the ice before the team’s optional skate on Thursday, which Peter Laviolette views as a positive sign.
“It’s great he is out on the ice today,” Laviolette said. “Right now it’s just upper-body, but for me that’s progression. Out on the ice, so that’s a good thing.”
It’s possible Kreider and Chytil return at some point during this three-game road trip.
