Amelia Gray Hamlin

Amelia Gray Hamlin, daughter of Harry Hamlin and “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Lisa Rinna is set to appear in a new show helmed by Ryan Murphy. The series, called “The Beauty,” will star Evan Peters and Bella Hadid, daughter of “RHOBH” alum Yolanda Hadid.

When Hamlin, a successful model, was presented with the opportunity to make her acting debut on the show, it felt like fate. “I was a bit sick, stuck in my hotel room in Milan, thinking ‘What is my life? What’s my purpose?’” she shared with V Magazine. “I got this email being like, ‘Hey, there’s this Ryan Murphy show called ‘The Beauty.’”

The model went on to explain that she was asked to make an audition tape that would be due within two days. Despite feeling under the weather, Hamlin rallied.

She knew she’d be mad at herself if she didn’t give it a shot and so she read the script. “… and everything in the document was just so perfect for me then and there,” she said.

Amelia Gray Hamlin Made a Creative Shift

While acting and modeling require different skill sets, Hamlin found she was sort of a natural. “I felt like I didn’t have to try to be this other person,” she explained. “I could just kind of be myself, and that was easy for me.”

Hamlin called director Ryan Murphy “incredible” and described working with him as “surreal and insane.” She also expressed her great respect and admiration for actors, and described why trying something new was important to her.

“I think a certain type of person who branches out to acting is craving a multi-dimensional outlet to put their creativity [on a new level] because once you model for however long, you need to get re-energized,” Hamlin shared. She added, “I love my job so much, but I think it’s okay to want more experiences …”

What Amelia Gray Hamlin Thinks of ‘Nepo Baby’ Criticism

Hamlin hasn’t shied away from the reality that her parents are famous. In May the model told People, “I was born famous. I am a nepo baby. What can I say?” She also said she considered the criticism “mindless and unnecessary” explaining, “nobody gets to choose where the heck they’re from.”

This year in particular, Hamlin feels as though she has accomplished a whole lot on her own. “I’ve realized that I have a seat at the table, and I’ve earned that—I’ve worked really hard,” she shared with V.
