RHOC’s Shannon Beador Gets Candid About DUI

Shannon Beador has definitely been through the ringer. The Real Housewives of Orange County star started the show wealthy and with an organic mission. But things devolved quickly. A messy divorce, messier follow-up relationship, and eventual DUI (Driving Under the Influence) arrest quickly marked a painful fall from grace. But Shannon has pushed through and feels she’s stronger than ever.

The Real for Real founder hit rock bottom after her divorce from David Beador. She began to spiral out of control, and the alcohol certainly fueled the crash out. Plus, it didn’t help that her subsequent relationship with John Janssen and the lawsuit that followed was an even bigger mess. Add a DUI to the mix, and Shannon was officially overwhelmed.

But now, a year later, Shannon can look back and recognize that everything happened for a reason. It all helped bring her to a better place.

Shannon joined the LadyGang podcast from PodcastOne and spoke with Keltie Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jac Vanek about how life has been since the downward spiral. She reflects on the DUI, dating apps, and her experiences with Bravo’s Love Hotel.

“I’ve grown so much,” Shannon shared. “I will say that last year after my DUI, I thought that I was in a hole I couldn’t dig myself out of,” she admitted.

“Like I’m done. It was everywhere! And the comments …” she shuddered.

Shannon was in a bad place and even admitted to using alcohol as a coping mechanism prior to the DUI. But perhaps the DUI was the wake-up call she needed. She cried about the example she was setting for her daughters.

“To know, and I continue to work on myself and see a therapist, and to know that I got through last year and last season, which like you can’t even script stuff like what happened, I know that I’m a stronger person for it,” Shannon explained.

Seems like the dark days may be through for Shannon. And here’s hoping for better days ahead, despite Joel Kim Booster dragging her for Love Hotel.

“I can honestly say that I’ve never been happier than I am right now,” she concluded. “So, I know now that all of it happened to get me here. I’m grateful for that.”
