The New Orleans found a way to suffer a horrific loss during a nail-biting win in Week 14. They faced a depleted New York Giants team and were not impressive but made enough plays to pull out a 14-11 win as the visiting team.
LAte in the fourth quarter, quarterback Derek Carr soared for a nine-yard gain on a run. He kept the ball on an option play instead of handing it to Alvin Kamara.
As far as yardage goes, it was a smart choice. Carr gained a chunk but paid the price. He dove out of bounds and landed hard on his left side and head, partially. We've gotten some updates regarding Carr's injuries.
Latest on Derek Carr
According to Nick Underhill, the Saints fear that Carr suffered a broken left hand.
Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi also added that Carr may be in concussion protocol during his postgame media availability.
Accordingly, we can expect Carr to miss some time. Even though it is a fracture to his non-throwing hand, no one can expect him to play quarterback at a high level with that sort of ailment.
In his absence, expect Jake Haener to get the first opportunity to start at QB for New Orleans going forward.
