We had a scary moment at the Montreal Canadiens practice in Brossard when two players gave us quite a scare.
Defenseman Mike Matheson collided with goaltender Cayden Primeau and hit the goalpost pretty hard.
It could have taken a turn for the worse, and it wasn't pleasant to see, but fortunately, it seems to be nothing more than that (a frightening scene without any consequences).
A Close Call for Mike Matheson and Cayden Primeau
Check out the footage:
"Mike Matheson crashed into the net during the Habs practice; thankfully, he seemed fine afterward. But the best moment is when Cole Caufield tries his best to mimic Papa Bear by hitting the net like a parent striking an inanimate object after their toddler runs into it."- Priyanta Emrith
You can clearly hear in the video that many of us held our breath, hoping to see Matheson get up quickly.
With all the major injuries recently suffered by key players for the Montreal Canadiens, you can imagine how much this incident caused a stir. But to repeat, Matheson seemed to be okay after this nasty fall (and so did Cayden Primeau).
Speaking of Mike Matheson, Martin St-Louis announced this morning, unsurprisingly, that he will start the season on the first power-play unit and the top defensive pair, alongside Kaiden Guhle.
As for the forward lines, here they are:
If the Canadiens avoid the injury list this season, or at least steer clear of major injuries, it will be truly interesting to see the potential of this lineup.
