In the chapel, a hysterical Kristina wailed at God to help Ric because she had done something "dumb," as she put it. "I did a bad thing. I know that I ask a lot, but please don't let Molly's dad die, please, okay?" she cried, just as Molly and Alexis walked in. Molly was grateful that Kristina was praying for her father.
Kristina was relieved to hear that Ric was out of surgery and that there had been no permanent damage. Molly was grateful her family was there with her. "Davis girls are going to stick together. Forever," she said. The sisters then lit a candle for Ric, which touched Alexis' heart.
Ava found Isaiah in the hospital halls and asked for an update on Ric, but since she wasn't family, he refused to tell her anything. She then convinced Isaiah to let her see Ric. Ava tentatively walked into Ric's room. "Please. Wake up. I don't want our last words to each other to have been spoken in anger. If you wake up for me now, I'll let you bill me for a whole hour," she joked. She then asked him to wake for Molly.
Ric listened to her and started grumbling just as Ava tried to leave. He immediately asked for Elizabeth and was relieved to hear she was okay. He then remembered what happened and told Ava that he lost control of the car and the brakes failed. After Molly mentioned that it was a miracle that the ambulance got there so quickly, Ric remembered seeing Kristina staring into the car before he passed out.
Ava ran into the hall and told Isaiah that Ric was awake. She told the Davis women the same when they got off the elevator. Molly ran into her dad's room, but Kristina said she needed some air. Alexis told Ava she needed to leave, but Ava argued that General Hospital was a public face. They didn't get far in their argument because Lucy appeared to ask them to perform at the Nurses' Ball. Neither woman gave Lucy an answer.
Ava then visited a mechanic to ask about the car that had been in a crash. She claimed it was her car and asked the man to take a look at it before it was totalled. "Maybe see if there was some mechanical reason the car lost control," she suggested.
Elizabeth was happy when Deanna brought her some dessert and extra pillows, but she was still going stir crazy laid up in a hospital bed. Liz was also worried about Ric and was saddened to hear there had been no change in his condition. Lucky soon dropped in with a bag from home. Liz admitted that she felt completely helpless.
She hated the idea of being out of commission for three months due to her broken leg. Liz also wanted to go home, but Lucky didn't know how she would take care of herself. "You need to give your body time to heal and be grateful you're not here for something a whole lot worse," Lucky said. That just made Liz think of Ric again. "I keep replaying that moment when the car went off the road. It was terrifying. We could have been killed," she said.
Liz was relieved when Deanna told her that Ric was awake, but she could tell that Lucky blamed Ric for the crash. He didn't speak up and say who was really responsible for nearly getting Liz killed. Lucky left when Deanna needed to examine Liz. He then received a text from Kristina saying she needed to see him right away.
Lucky met with Kristina in the chapel, where he didn't mince words. "First, you're going to tell me how you almost killed Elizabeth," he said.
Lucy caught up with Jordan in the hospital halls to talk about the Nurses' Ball. Jordan was shocked to learn that Laura had volunteered her to be the city liaison for the ball. She had a list of people for Jordan to call and recruit to perform. "That means everyone, and you do not take no for an answer," Lucy ordered.
Trina was surprised when Kai told her there was a chance he might be able to play football again. Kai explained that Drew had told him about an experimental surgery Drew told him about. Trina was alarmed as soon as she heard Drew's name.
Trina was even more alarmed when she heard that Drew was willing to pay for the surgery. "He barely knows you, so why would he do that?" Trina asked. Kai informed Trina that the first appointment was just a consultation, and he went to her mother for medical advice. Trina admitted she didn't want Kai to be disappointed if things didn't work out.
Kai claimed that Trina was an inspiration to him, which led him to not want to give up. The two started kissing on her couch, but Lucy soon knocked on the door with her Nurses' Ball performer pitch. She didn't even wait for an answer before deciding that Trina and Kai would perform together.
Curtis and Drew continued arguing about Kai in Curtis' office. Drew accused Curtis of using his grudge against him to "deny Kai a career he's dreamed of his whole life." Curtis countered that he was simply not buying Drew's altruism.
"If you really cared about Kai, you would encourage him to look at it carefully and do some research. That's what I did," Curtis said. Drew claimed he did the same. "If you want to come at me, Curtis, that's fine. Just leave Kai out of it," Drew demanded.
Curtis insisted he wasn't standing in Kai's way. "He came to me for advice, and I gave it to him," Curtis simply stated. Drew claimed Kai was aware of the risks. "I am just in a position to help him realize everything he's worked so hard for, just like I did for you," Drew said.
Curtis looked at Drew like he had two heads. "Excuse me?" he asked. Drew then tooted his own horn. "Oh, come on, Curtis. How do you think you became CEO of Aurora? You wouldn't be in this office if I hadn't put you here," Drew said.
Curtis conceded that Drew had given him the CEO position. "And I repaid you by doing an outstanding job, and you repaid me by stabbing me in the back," he said. Curtis told Drew that just because everything worked out in the end for Drew and Willow (for now), that didn't mean there was not collateral damage along the way. He didn't want Kai to be collateral damage the same way Michael had been.
Jordan interrupted them to do Lucy's bidding. Both men agreed to give a donation but Jordan said that Sidwell was funding the whole thing. Instead, she wanted them to perform. Drew and Curtis were happy to lend their talents to the ball.
At the WSB training center, Josslyn told Jack she had seen Vaughn receive a "suspicious dropoff." Jack immediately questioned Vaughn, who denied knowing what Joss was talking about. He also accused her of following him. "These are very serious charges, one that could end his career. If you're wrong, it could end yours," Jack warned.
"I'm just reporting what I saw," Joss said. "You have no idea what you saw," Vaughn countered. Josslyn gave Jack the rundown on what she saw. "I didn't think much of it at the time, but I just heard that Vaughn wasn't cleared for field work," she said.
Vaughn told his side of the story but left out the part where the woman passed him something. A flabbergasted Joss insisted she was telling the truth. Jack suggested that Josslyn's mind might have been playing tricks on her. "Agent Vaughn is lying," Josslyn declared with a smile.
She told Jack that she saw Vaughn put the package in his pocket, so Jack asked Vaughn to empty all his pockets. He did just that and handed Jack what the woman gave him. Jack opened it and found what looked like a computer chip. He looked at Joss and said, "What we do now is quite simple...Congratulations, Agent Jacks, you just passed your first phase of training."
Josslyn was outraged that it was all a test. Jack explained that he was testing her loyalty. "You didn't let your feelings for a colleague supercede your loyalty to the WSB," he pronounced. Jack told Joss she would continue her training, but she was also needed in the field. She was ready for her first assignment.
Carly was surprised to see Jason at her kitchen door. She let him in so he could hand her tax documents from Diane, but that seemed to be an excuse for his visit. Carly broke the ice. "I hate the situation with Jack has come between us, but I can't live my life by your rules any more than you want to live your life by mine," she said. "I don't want to choose between you and Jack," Carly added.
Jason was surprised that Jack meant that much to her. Carly claimed he didn't. "That's the crazy thing. This has nothing to do with Jack Brennan. We could be over in a month. But I don't want to give anyone up because someone tells me to. Even if that someone is you," Carly said.
Carly argued that she was married to Sonny, which also put her in danger. "But I understand Sonny's world. I can anticipate things in our world with our enemies, but Brennan's world and his enemies? I don't know how to," Jason countered. "After Sam's death, I can't take the risk of losing you," he added.
Jason said that he couldn't trust Jack to protect her. "Your life isn't as important to him as it is to me. It can't be. I would take a bullet for you," Jason said, moving Carly to tears. Carly understood that Jason didn't trust Jack, but she didn't care. "I haven't felt this alive in a really long time," she said, asking Jason to trust her judgment. Carly was shocked when Jason agreed to stay out of her relationship with Jack.
As Carly and Jason were ready to hug it out, Josslyn walked in and announced she was home. Back at the WSB training facility, Jack told Vaughn he would be Josslyn's backup on her first assignment in Port Charles.
