The next big thing for Star Trek is the return of the series Strange New Worlds. The fourth season of the series just began production and today Paramount+ released brand new character posters for season 3.

We don’t have a release date, but we now have 12 new posters or what they are calling “beautiful character portraits” of the nine series regulars and three of the recurring guest stars for season 3, each shown with a different image of space being projected onto their face. In addition to these three who got character portraits, Paramount+ has announced Irish actor Cillian O’Sullivan has a recurring role in season 3 as Dr. Roger Korby (portrayed in Star Trek: The Original Series by Michael Strong). And at NYCC they announced that New Zealand actor and comedian Rhys Darby is a guest star in an unnamed role which co-showrunner Henry Alonso Myers described as a “fun” character.
According to Paramount, for the new set of images photographer Pari Dukovic used a completely darkened room in order to accomplish this effect. From the release: “He used a standard digital projector mixed with strobe to amplify the actors skin and eyes with images of star nebulas and distant universes. The projections were different for each person and each actor reacted differently to it.”
Paramount+ is still saying that the third season of Strange New Worlds is coming “later this year,” but we don’t have an date just yet. Hopefully we get an announcement and maybe a trailer at Wondercon coming up at the end of the month.
